Over this whole pandemic, all of our plans that we had made were ruined. We all were affected by the pandemic in some way or another.
You can be upset that your plans were destroyed, or you can find a way to move forward. “In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.” Proverbs 16:9 Meaning that we can make all the plans we want but sometimes those plans need to be thrown away and you need to start over. We find ourselves caught up in these new trends and all this stuff that is fun and stuff that keeps us busy but sometimes we just need to sit and rest and just be with God. Without rest there is no growth. “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28 During this pandemic we were forced to take a break, rest, and just BE WITH GOD. We’re a society that is constantly moving and we think we don’t have time to rest. That is not true. Satan gets in our heads and tells us that there isn’t enough time left, There isn’t enough time to rest and be with God, there just isn’t enough time, but we have so much time. I’m not saying working is bad, I work so much. I have 2 jobs, I’m a leader for Young Life, and I am in school and I am constantly busy. I have been working with my schedule so I can ensure that I get my time with God, God should be our priority. Spending time with God shouldn’t be the thing we forget to do because “we don’t have time”. We need to constantly be spending time with God. It doesn’t have to be the same thing everyday and it could be so many different things. You can spend some time in the word, listening to worship music or simply just praying and talking to God. Sometimes it is so beneficial to us to just sit back, rest and just be with God. There is nothing wrong with resting and being content with where you are and with what you have. God blesses us everyday and loves us so much and all He wants from us is a relationship. Carson Davis Reflection Questions: 1. How can you practice rest this week? 2. When was the last time you truly spent time with God? What did it look like? 3. When can you spend time with God this week?
